A UPI payment link is a upi://pay deep link or payment URL that opens an Indian UPI app with the payee, amount, and note prefilled so the customer can approve payment quickly.

UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is India's instant bank-to-bank payment rail, operated by NPCI. A UPI payment link is the shareable version: a business creates a `upi://pay` URL with the payee VPA, payee name, amount, INR currency, and an optional note or transaction reference. When the customer taps the link on a phone, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, or another UPI app opens directly on the payment screen. The customer still approves with their UPI PIN, and the money moves between bank accounts within seconds.
