UPI Payment Link
A UPI payment link is a short URL (like upi://pay?...) that, when clicked on an Indian smartphone, opens the user's UPI app (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm) pre-filled with the amount and recipient. Tapping “pay” completes the transaction in 2-3 seconds.
In depth
UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is India's instant bank-to-bank payment rail, operated by NPCI. A UPI payment link is the shareable version — a business generates a link with the amount, recipient VPA (virtual payment address), and an optional transaction reference. The customer clicks it, authorizes with their UPI PIN, and the money moves instantly between bank accounts with no card or fee. UPI payment links are the dominant way to collect deposits and quick payments in India because they work on every smartphone, take under 10 seconds end-to-end, and have zero transaction fees for the payer. For businesses, the processor (Razorpay, PhonePe Business, etc.) typically charges 0-2% depending on the volume. Dvaarik AI uses UPI deep links for booking deposits — customer picks a service, AI sends the deposit link, customer pays in their UPI app, booking confirms.
Real example
Customer books a ₹500 haircut. Dvaarik AI sends a UPI deposit link for ₹100. Customer clicks, GPay opens with the amount pre-filled, customer authorizes, ₹100 arrives in the salon's bank account in 2 seconds, booking confirms in Dvaarik.
