Wrapper Platform
A wrapper platform adds a client portal, branding, billing, workflows, or reporting over underlying APIs and providers rather than operating every infrastructure component itself.
What does Wrapper Platform mean in practice?
A wrapper platform turns lower-level infrastructure into a more complete product. In voice AI, it may connect to a voice API and add agency tenants, branded dashboards, Stripe billing, campaigns and analytics. That layer can be valuable because it replaces engineering and maintenance. Agencies should still calculate the full stack: wrapper subscription, wrapper usage markup, upstream voice components, telephony and support. A wrapper becomes an unnecessary tax only when its operational value is smaller than the duplicated cost.
Real example
An agency pays a monthly portal subscription over a separate voice API bill because the wrapper supplies multi-client dashboards and automated client invoicing.
