Call Recording + Transcript India: ₹0.10/min

Recording a business call in India costs +₹0.10/min on Dvaarik, charged on the same minutes as the ₹2/min voice rate, and the transcript carries no separate charge because the agent already handles the conversation as text. This page prices a recorded month line by line at 400 and 2,000 minutes, sets our figure against the only other rupee recording price in our competitor ledger, and says plainly which calls we can put on record and which we cannot.

Call recording on Dvaarik costs +₹0.10 per minute, added to the ₹2/min voice rate and charged on the same minutes the call is billed for. The transcript has no separate price. Dvaarik phone access is a separate recurring channel. The app shows the current price and capacity; one channel handles one simultaneous call. That is a direct answer, and it is unusually hard to find. Search "call recording and transcription cost india" and most of what comes back is human transcription-outsourcing agencies pricing per audio minute in dollars — a person typing up your audio afterwards, which is a different service for a different buyer. Search the way an owner actually thinks about it — *what did my staff say on that call* — and you get legality explainers, international listicles and call-log spreadsheet templates. The India-focused, business-side guides to call recording that we have read describe the systems and their features without putting a rupee figure on what recording actually costs. So this page does the boring thing nobody has done. It puts a rupee figure on recording, shows the arithmetic at volumes a small Indian business would recognise, names what our competitors publish, and states clearly where we are the wrong tool for the job. Every external price or inclusion below was re-read on the vendor's own page on 15 Aug 2026.

How much does call recording and transcription cost in India?

Here is what India voice-agent vendors publish about recording, re-read on their own pages on 15 Aug 2026. Every linked row records only what that vendor states about itself. A page that says nothing about recording is omitted instead of being turned into an "included" or "free" claim.

ProviderPublished recording chargeWhat that charge sits on top of
Dvaarik+₹0.10/min, optional₹2/min voice on prepaid credits, with no voice subscription, minimum volume, or lock-in
Aixclerate₹0.20/min in India, optional, deducted from its Usage WalletA renewing subscription. Its readable default view publishes Starter at $99/month with 500 minutes and Business at $299/month with 2,000 minutes; it does not publish an additional-minute rate in that view
TrikonNo separate charge; its ₹5/min bundles "platform, LLM, STT, TTS, recording, dashboard, transfer"₹5/min with no voice subscription or setup fee, while telephony and DID numbers remain billed separately by the carrier
ConnectAINo separate recording line; the current ₹4/min voice-receptionist entry says every call is recorded in its Call Logs dashboard₹800/month standalone or ₹499/month as a suite add-on, plus ₹4/min; its page also publishes ₹1,000 onboarding for new clinics

The comparison above states the published row-by-row differences; read each row with its source, date, and qualifying notes.

Aixclerate is the only vendor in this refreshed set besides us that publishes a separate rupee-per-minute recording charge. Silence elsewhere is not proof that recording is included, excluded, or free. We are not claiming to be the cheapest — rates move and private quotes cannot be compared from public evidence. The claim we will stand behind is about terms: ₹2/min from the very first minute, +₹0.10/min if you want the audio kept, with no voice subscription, minimum volume, or lock-in underneath it.

Read the broader sourced comparison in our AI calling agent price guide for India.

Why the transcript does not carry its own price

The subject described in this section: This is a mechanism question, and the mechanism is the whole reason the pricing looks different from a transcription agency's.

A transcription service takes finished audio and produces text from it afterwards. That is a second pass over the same material, so it is a second bill, usually quoted per audio minute.

An AI voice agent works the other way round. To hold the conversation at all, the agent has to turn what your customer said into text in real time, decide what to do, and speak a reply. The text already exists at the end of the call because the text is *how* the call happened. Handing you that text is not extra work being performed on your behalf; it is a by-product of the call you already paid ₹2/min for.

The audio recording is different, and that is why it has a price. Keeping the actual sound file means storing it and serving it back to you later, and storage is a real cost that recurs for as long as the file exists. So we price the thing that has an ongoing cost at ₹0.10/min and leave the thing that is already a by-product at zero.

One consequence worth knowing before you decide: if you only need to know *what was said*, you may not need recording at all. The transcript answers that at ₹2/min flat. Recording earns its ₹0.10/min when you need the tone, the exact words in the customer's own voice, or an audio file you can play back to a staff member or keep for a dispute.

What does a month of recorded calls actually cost?

Dvaarik is self-serve SaaS today: there is no setup fee and no minimum commitment. You log in, add your services, staff, hours and knowledge, connect channels, and pay only for what your agents actually do.

Dvaarik phone access is a separate recurring channel. The app shows the current price and capacity; one channel handles one simultaneous call. The direct Social Plan remains ₹1,500 per 30 days when WhatsApp or Instagram access is enabled. Agencies and developers can sell the same platform under their own brand through the white-label partner programme, and set their own client pricing.

Can you tell me what my staff said on a customer call?

Partly, and the honest boundary matters more here than the sales answer.

What we can put on record: every call that reaches your Dvaarik number and is handled by the agent. That covers the whole first contact — the enquiry, the questions asked, the price quoted by the agent, whether a booking was made, and the language the customer spoke in. Recording and transcript both cover that leg.

What we cannot put on record: calls your staff take on their own mobile phones, on your existing landline, or on a number that does not route through us. We have no meter on those calls and no access to them. If the agent transfers a live call to a person on their own handset, that transferred leg is outside what we record.

So if your actual problem is *"I think my counter staff are quoting the wrong price or being short with customers on their own phones"*, a Dvaarik agent does not solve it directly, and we would rather say so than sell you a workaround. The two honest routes are:

  1. Make the agent the front door. Point your advertised enquiry number at the agent so that first contact always lands on a line that is on record, and let staff handle only what gets transferred to them deliberately. This changes what your business looks like from the outside, so it is a decision, not a setting.
  2. Use a tool built for recording human agents. Cloud telephony platforms and call-recording apps exist precisely to sit on your team's handsets. That is a different product category with different economics, and we compare the two models honestly in cloud telephony vs AI voice agents in India.

What a searchable transcript changes in practice

We are not going to quote a percentage lift here, because we have no sourced study to quote and inventing one would make every other number on this page worth less.

What we can describe is the mechanism — what becomes possible when a month of calls is text you can search rather than audio nobody has time to listen to.

  • You can find where enquiries died. Reading the last few lines of calls that did not end in a booking shows you the sentence that lost them. That is a specific, fixable thing, not a metric.
  • You can see what people actually ask. The questions that repeat across your transcripts are the questions your website should already be answering, and usually is not.
  • You can check what price was quoted. The agent says what it was built to say, and the transcript is the record of it. If it said the wrong thing, you can see exactly where and we can change the behaviour.
  • You can see the language mix. The agent handles calls across 22+ Indian languages, and the transcript is of the conversation as it was spoken. If most of your enquiries arrive in Telugu and your staff answer in English, the transcripts will show you that before your revenue does.
  • You can settle a dispute with a file rather than a memory. This is the case where the ₹0.10/min for audio earns its place — a transcript is evidence of words, a recording is evidence of tone.

A note against our own interest: transcripts are only useful if somebody reads them. If nobody in your business will open them, switch recording off, save the ₹0.10/min, and spend the attention somewhere it will be used.

Is it legal to record customer calls in India?

Recording business calls is normal commercial practice in India, and you have heard the announcement on the front of a bank or airline call yourself. The part that deserves care is not whether recording exists but how you do it.

The practical points, stated as practice rather than as legal advice:

  • Disclose it. The agent identifies itself as an AI assistant for your business at the start of the call, and it can state that the call is being recorded. Announcing the recording before the conversation starts is the simplest operational safeguard.
  • Treat the recording as personal data. The DPDP Act's definition of processing includes collection, recording, storage, retrieval and use. The Government's commencement notification schedules most core processing obligations — sections 3–5, section 6 except subsection (9), and sections 7–17 — for eighteen months after 13 Nov 2025, or 13 May 2027. Section 6(9) starts after one year, on 13 Nov 2026. Neither milestone had arrived when this page was checked on 15 Aug 2026. Build consent, access, security, deletion and retention controls now rather than waiting for those dates.
  • Do not stockpile what you will not use. Retention is a choice you make, and keeping every call forever creates a liability rather than an asset.
  • Outbound is a separate question from recording. Consent, TRAI registration and DLT apply to who you may call in the first place. Our agents call only your own leads and enquiries, never bought lists. The full picture is in is AI calling legal in India.

We build the system; we are not your lawyer. Sector rules and the facts of a specific call can add obligations, especially in healthcare and financial services, so get qualified advice before switching recording on.

When a different tool or a human is the better answer

Four cases where we are honestly not the right purchase.

You need old audio transcribed, not new calls handled. If you have a folder of recordings from last year and you want them typed up, that is transcription work and a transcription service is the correct supplier. Our ₹0.10/min applies to calls the agent is on, going forward.

You need a human on the phone. Complex negotiation, an upset customer, a case that needs judgement — an agent that answers at 2am and books appointments is not a substitute for a person who can decide something. The agent is best at the volume of routine first contact that is currently going unanswered.

You want recording across an existing team of ten telecallers. That is a cloud telephony or contact-centre requirement, priced per seat, and buying an AI agent to get at it would be the expensive way round.

Recording is genuinely all you want. If you have no interest in the agent answering calls and only want audio kept, you are buying a recording product, not us. Our ₹0.10/min is an add-on to a working agent, not a standalone service.

Where we do fit: calls are being missed, first contact is going unanswered or unrecorded, and you want both the answering and the record of it on one prepaid balance with no voice subscription underneath.

How to start, and what the first month looks like

Frequently asked questions

How much does call recording cost per minute in India?

On Dvaarik, call recording is +₹0.10 per minute on top of the ₹2/min voice rate, charged on the same minutes the call is billed for. In first-party pages re-read on 15 Aug 2026, Aixclerate published optional recording at ₹0.20/min in India on top of a renewing subscription, while Trikon included recording inside ₹5/min with telephony billed separately by the carrier. ConnectAI stated that every ₹4/min voice-receptionist call is recorded inside its Call Logs dashboard and published no separate recording line.

Is call transcription charged separately?

No. The transcript carries no separate charge on Dvaarik, because the agent has to process the conversation as text in order to hold it. The text already exists when the call ends, so handing it to you is not additional work. The audio recording is what costs +₹0.10/min, because storing and serving a sound file is an ongoing cost.

Can Dvaarik record calls my staff take on their own mobile phones?

No. We can only record calls that reach your Dvaarik number and are handled by the agent. Calls on your team's personal handsets, on an existing landline, or on any number that does not route through us are outside what we can see or record. If a live call is transferred to a person on their own phone, that transferred leg is not covered either. To record a human team, you need a cloud telephony platform or a call-recording app, which is a different product category.

Do I need a monthly plan or subscription to get call recording?

No. Dvaarik voice usage has no subscription or minimum volume. Recording is an option you switch on, billed at ₹0.10/min from a prepaid credit balance alongside the ₹2/min voice rate. That is a difference in terms rather than only in price: Aixclerate's first-party page, re-read 15 Aug 2026, published ₹0.20/min recording from a Usage Wallet while standard subscriptions renew separately.

Are Hindi and Telugu calls transcribed too?

Yes. The agent handles calls across 22+ Indian languages, and the transcript is a record of the conversation in the language it was actually spoken in. There is no separate charge for a call in Telugu or Hindi at the Bharat Standard rate of ₹3/min, and no separate charge for its transcript.

Is it legal to record customer calls in India?

Disclose recording before the conversation and retain only what the business needs. The DPDP Act's definition of processing includes recording and storage. The Government's 13 Nov 2025 commencement notification schedules section 6(9) for 13 Nov 2026 and most core processing obligations — sections 3–5, the rest of section 6, and sections 7–17 — for 13 May 2027. Neither milestone had arrived when this answer was checked on 15 Aug 2026. Sector rules and the facts of a specific call can add obligations, especially in healthcare and financial services. Get qualified advice; this is operational practice, not legal advice.

How long do you keep recordings and transcripts?

Retention is set per client during the build rather than fixed by a standard plan, because a clinic and a wholesaler have genuinely different needs and different obligations. Tell us on WhatsApp what period you need and why, and we will configure it and put it in writing before go-live. We would rather set a short, deliberate retention period than keep everything indefinitely, because an unread archive of customer recordings is a liability rather than an asset.

Tell us your call volume on WhatsApp and we will work out your real monthly number before you commit to anything.
