Seven AI receptionist platforms serving India, in their own published units

This is a comparable shortlist, not a league table. Every row uses the platform’s own current page and keeps its published unit and currency. A rupee whole-minute rate is not the same product as a dollar 30-second pulse rate, and neither can be compared to a platform that publishes nothing. Where a platform states no price, the row says so rather than carrying an estimate.

What an AI receptionist actually does

These six capabilities are what separates an AI receptionist from an IVR menu or a voicemail box. Each is written to be read on its own.

Answering every call, including out of hours

An AI receptionist picks up inbound calls at any hour, so enquiries arriving at night, during lunch, or while the line is already busy are answered instead of going to voicemail.

Speaking Indian languages and code-mixed speech

Indian callers switch between English, Hindi and a regional language inside one sentence, so an AI receptionist for India is judged on Hinglish and code-mixed handling rather than on language count alone.

Booking into a real calendar

The agent checks live availability, locks a slot and confirms it during the call, which is the step that separates a receptionist from a message-taking answering service.

Recovering missed and abandoned calls

When a call is missed the system calls the number back or opens a WhatsApp thread, which is where most recovered revenue in Indian service businesses actually comes from.

Handing off to a human with context

A qualified or high-value caller is transferred to a person along with the transcript and captured fields, so the customer does not repeat themselves.

Writing the outcome back to a system of record

Call summaries, captured fields and booking outcomes are pushed to a CRM or sheet, which is what makes the calls measurable rather than merely answered.

How to read a per-minute rate before you compare two of them

The billing unit moves the invoice more than the headline rate

Dvaarik bills whole minutes rounded up, the telecom standard. Bolna bills in 30-second pulses. Across a set of short 45-second calls those two units produce materially different invoices at the same nominal rate, so the unit belongs next to the number.

Currency matters when the rate is not INR

Bolna's card is denominated in US dollars at 6.00¢ a minute, shown as ₹5.52. A dollar rate moves with the exchange rate, so an Indian buyer's rupee cost is not fixed by the published figure.

The phone line is a separate cost from the voice minutes

A per-minute voice rate rarely includes the phone number or the concurrent line that lets two callers be answered at once. One channel means one simultaneous call, whatever the number count attached to it.

Platform and payment fees sit on top of the credit amount

Dvaarik top-ups carry an 18% platform fee and a 2.36% payment-processing fee on top of the credit purchased. These are price components, and a comparison that ignores them on any platform understates that platform.

A language count is not the same as code-mixed handling

Indian callers switch between English, Hindi and a regional language inside one sentence. A platform listing 20 languages may still handle Hinglish worse than one listing nine, so this is tested on real calls rather than read off a page.

Questions buyers ask about AI receptionists in India

An AI receptionist in India is a voice agent that answers a business phone line 24/7, holds a natural conversation in English, Hindi or a regional language, and completes a task such as booking an appointment, capturing a lead or transferring the caller to a person. It replaces the voicemail and the press-1 menu rather than the front-desk role itself.

Published per-minute rates read on 9 Sep 2026 run from a ₹0.30 platform fee per started minute plus your own provider bills (Dvaarik) to ₹4/min plus ₹800 a month (ConnectAI) and roughly ₹5.52 a minute (Bolna, quoted at 6.00¢ in US dollars and billed in 30-second pulses). Three of the platforms Google names for this query — Rootle, SquadStack and FrontivaAI — publish no rate at all, so their total cost cannot be compared without contacting sales.

Of the seven platforms in this index, four publish a rate on their own site: Dvaarik, ConnectAI, Bolna AI and VaniAgent. Three do not: Rootle, SquadStack and FrontivaAI. SquadStack publishes an industry range of ₹2 to ₹5 a minute but not its own rate.

Per-minute pricing makes a pilot and uneven demand easier to budget because the cost follows actual minutes and stops when calls stop. A monthly bundle is better when the business reliably consumes the included allowance every month. Compare the same monthly minute volume, the concurrency limit, the phone-number cost, the setup fee and the billing unit before choosing.

The billing unit changes the effective price more than the headline rate does on short calls. Dvaarik bills whole minutes rounded up, the telecom standard. Bolna bills in 30-second pulses. On a set of 45-second calls those two units produce materially different invoices at the same nominal rate, so the unit has to be read alongside the number.

A voice rate usually excludes the phone number and concurrent line, WhatsApp and Instagram access, call transfer, setup, integrations, support and taxes or platform fees. Dvaarik top-ups, for example, carry an 18% platform fee and a 2.36% payment-processing fee on top of the credit amount. Add the channel costs a business actually needs before comparing two rates.

Hear one answer the phone before you compare another rate card

Dvaarik publishes its full rate card and runs a live agent you can call. Voice from ₹2 per whole billed minute on Bharat Essential across 10 languages, or ₹3 for all 23. ₹0 setup, credits that never expire.
